Restoration
A kitchen that had witnessed her grow up inspired this homeowner to steward its care by modernizing its elements and increasing efficiency while honoring its classic style. The kitchen was mapped, and doors and drawers were labeled. A redesign was established to create a home for a dishwasher and a microwave as well as to relocate an outdated cooktop and wall oven into a single range. Soffits were removed to enlarge the space and make room for additional cabinet space. The bar space was enlarged to make room for appliances and to capture voids in the cabinet space that were inaccessible in the original layout. Additions included glass door cabinets, a pan cabinet, spice rack and trash can slide-outs, new drawer boxes with slides, and adjustable shelving. Other details that made a big impact included the doubling in size of the tall pantry cabinet and the replacement of the face hinges with concealed soft close hinges! The flooring was updated, everything was repainted, and there was even material left over for a small bathroom improvement! Every square inch of space was recaptured and repurposed!
